Sun Please.

I have been very neglectful! After graduation I went to Vegas for a week and then got back and started the wedding planning so I have been a poor excuse for a blogger.  I bought a sunhat in Vegas that has become my favorite accessory!  Especially because my forehead cannot take anymore sun.  So here is a quick illustration inspired by my hat! :)

Frames!

Getting the supplies ready!

Cutting the wood... took many tries and much wasted wood before we got it right. :(

Putting them together!

Hooray! Nine frames? No biggie.

For the student exhibition at CCS I decided to make my own frames instead of having them professionally done.  Main reason was the cost, but also I just really wanted to try it.  They turned out really good and I was really proud of them!  My fiances' brother helped me out a lot with the cutting but I was a very helpful assistant :).  Will post pictures of the finished product and images later!

Silkscreen and ties!

Not my favorite part.

Almost there!

Ah.. favorite part.

And then... finished! For my brother's 18th birthdays I decided to make them each a tie.  They have a couple of nice events coming up so I thought it would be cool if they had their own personalized tie to wear to them.  One is "Gimme Gimme More" because my bro loves Brit, and the other is a balloon animal for my other brother because... well its precious.  They better appreciate them because this was a late night for me and all involved. But it was fun :)

Packaging is DONE!

Told you they were almost here! And one day later... what do you know.  I am really happy with them.  It was something completely new for me and I put a lot of time into this project to make it come together.  So happy with the product. Introducing Abroad Affairs Lip Gloss!

Legend the Band

Home Page

Who Are We

Our Music

Photo Gallery

Photo Gallery - clicked image

In my image class we had an assignment to either create a design for a website or redesign an existing website.  I chose to design a website for my Uncle's band, Legend the Band, which already has a website but I thought it would be fun to do something close to home.  The band is a 50s and 60s rock and roll cover band so I wanted to keep it looking vintage and simple.  The designs are basically what the page would look like on the home page and what would happened if you clicked a link.  It is not actually being made, the point of the assignment is to think about what things would do on the page and what it would look like.

View Book Illustration #3!

"Artist's revitalize spaces."

I was asked to do one more illustration for the CCS View Book after the first two I had submitted to them last week.  I was pretty excited but only had a few days to complete it so it was spontaneous and fun.  I loved making all the "frames" and just getting crazy and creative with the designs.

Sydney Refurbished.

After taking a look back at my Sydney illustration, I decided it I needed to rethink the composition... so I did! I like it much better now. Plus it's hot pink and that's awesome.

Falling for Beijing

I am trying to decide... guy with color? or without color?  I feel like I am leaning more towards without color so the focus is entirely on the girl but feedback is appreciated!  I've also designed the pattern which I will post later.  Falling for Beijing! And yes, the guy was inspired by my fabulous fiance!

Viewbook

"The community, the people, the businesses, the culture, and the revitalization of the city."
-representation of revival and growth

"Cultural diversity, the music, the art!"

So, my professor Don asked me and two close friends, Veronica and Ray,early this week to do illustrations for the CCS viewbook. We had to illustrate quotes about Detroit that were provided to us, it was pretty much open to interpretation in any way on our part. I just wanted to use a combination of line, texture and pattern to showcase the quotes.

Walk Detroit

Having fun with my new press!

Trying to figure out how to fold the dang skirt!  Finally got it after the table was covered in different types of folded paper.

Here it is! My poster design for the Detroit Shoppe at Somerset mall.  I had a lot of fun with this one because I tried some different things and it gave me an excuse to buy a press :).  I feel like I really stuck true to myself with this one and it turned out just as I wanted.  Of course, as always, feedback is appreciated.  Walk Detroit!

Cairo anyone?

Pattern.  Was inspired by the pyramids and the sunny desert!  My personal favorite so far :)

Packaging ideas and designs.  Remember it will be a journal type of thing! I'm thinking about doing a postcard too? We'll see.

Lip gloss ideas.  Ordering the empty containers this week so they will be legit!

Cairo Illustration.
I named this one "Daydreams in Cairo" but I don't know if I like it now.  I'll think of some more and see how it goes.  Keeping it for now though!  I've done three so far but haven't showed one because it is undergoing some tweaking at the moment and have started my fourth one.  I've decided I am only doing four illustrations that have packaging ideas and designs and what not so I can finally move to getting these looking like the belong on the shelf!

Abroad Affairs!

Patttern

Packaging Ideas and Designs

Lip Gloss Idea

"Strolling London"

I have been working on this series of lip gloss products that I am creating the illustrations and packaging for.  The idea is traveling around the world, so each color represents a different city.  This illustration is of London so the lipgloss will be called "Strolling London."  The entire lipgloss product is called "Abroad Affairs." My thinking is that the packaging of the lipgloss could be a journal of the travels specific to that city.  I want to make a journal too that comes with the lipgloss in the package as sort of an extra to the purchase.  So, here is the illustration and ideas for packaging! I haven't made them yet, but I will. :)

I Miss Warm Weather

I am so sick of all this snow! I am one of those people who does not care if I ever see snow again.  I love  being warm.  I love wearing my summer dresses and not being able to walk out of my house without my sunglasses.  This lovely lady is a little peek at what goes on inside my sketchbook.  I am also using her in my next piece based on the city Cairo. You will soon see. :)

Look What I Found

Oh how you feel when you find that perfect pair of shoes!

For the girly girl who loves shoes <3

I did this illustration and pattern over the summer and just stumbled across them as I was organizing some files! I had so much fun doing this because I got to draw cute little shoes all day.  I think I want to do some more patterns like this and apply them to some products.  Could be fun!
